On Sunday June 5th, 2016 over 2000 runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters gathered at the Marlboro Rec Center to support STOMP the Monster in their 6th Annual 5K fundraising event presented by Whole Foods Market of Monmouth County. Although the weather called for rain and thunderstorms, we had nothing short of perfect weather to enjoy the day and together raised over $80,000.
The kid’s races went on without a hitch starting with the older 9-10 year olds and then working down the line all the way to the 2-3 year olds. The 1 mile event was shared by both runners and walkers alike ranging in ages from 6 months (in a stroller) up to 86 years young. The 5K had 915 participants who completed the course without any issues. Our fans were plenty with a little boy holding out a sprinkler, a fan playing the trumpet, and a fun and loud water stop full of Volunteers (including Colts Neck ROTC, the Max Challenge, and the Brofsky family)..
The festival was a great way to celebrate all of our friends and supporters who continue to help raise funds that can go back into the community to help families when they need it most, during their battle with Cancer. The bouncy houses were jumped on, the sponsor tents were visited, we all went back in time for some ice cream, played some arcade games, got some face painting, ate delicious subs from Jersey Mike’s and treats from Whole Foods, drank some Rook coffee, and those of us over 21 drank some beer.
